Welcome
We are delighted that you would like to learn about the Elizabeth Maxwell Steele Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). Are you interested in genealogy, history, and serving others? Are you curious to know who your Revolutionary War Patriot was? Our members are committed to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. We enjoy our volunteer activities and are proud to make a difference in the lives of our community, state, and country.
In addition to our regular meetings, our chapter sponsors educational awards and scholarships. We support Crossnore Communities for Children and volunteer with our veterans. We honor our American Revolutionary War ancestors, recognize outstanding citizens in our area, and sponsor history essays. We invite you to come learn more about our National Society as we celebrate God, Home, and Country. We enjoy helping prospective members to find their Patriots.
Each member is a direct descendant of a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War.
One of the ways that we support our schools is by members visiting and reading to students.
How To Join
Interested in becoming a DAR member? Our chapter is made up of enthusiastic ladies of all ages, backgrounds, and talents. Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War is eligible for membership. You are welcome to visit one of our meetings where we can answer questions about membership, projects, or activities. Our chapter registrar will be happy to assist with the membership process.
Please contact us if you would like to attend one of our meetings or talk with someone about our chapter. We welcome new members to our active chapter.
Meetings
Our chapter meets in the months from January through May and September through December. A typical meeting includes social time, a guest speaker, and a business meeting.
We encourage anyone interested in joining DAR to attend one of our meetings to better understand the DAR organization and especially our chapter. You will learn more about our chapter by going to the What We Do webpage to read about some of the things that we do throughout the year.
